Doable Chewables!!!

By Ken and Lee Estridge

Are you thriving or just surviving? Are you excited to greet each new day or does it feel like just another day of work? Is your life a bold adventure or a boring soap opera?

What role are you playing in creating the life of your dreams? Do you even dare to dream? Who is writing your story? Do you like the story they are writing about you?

Are you the hero of the plot?

So, now that you are asking all the right questions, what do you do about it?  Do you go back to sleep and say dreams are for dreamers or do you think about how to make your dreams a reality? What will make this day different from any other day? What will move you closer to realizing your dreams?

Every great accomplishment is created in three stages. The first is the ability to visualize what you want to create in your life or your business. If you can't imagine it, you can't create it! The more clearly you can describe what it looks like, the more likely you are to be able to create it.

The second stage is creating a plan to realize that vision and breaking that plan down into bite size pieces (Doable Chewables!) Because in order to succeed in any great plan, we need to take one step at a time and we need to experience small successes along the way so that we have the motivation to persist until we are successful at attaining our ultimate goal.

The third stage is to begin to work on the steps of your plan in a systematic way. Each step can be a stretch but it should be attainable or you are setting yourself up for failure. It's important to celebrate your small successes and feel like a winner who is on the way to realizing your dreams, rather than a loser who will never get what you want out of life. So, celebrate your successes! And, if you fail to achieve a goal, don't give up. Just break that goal into sub-goals that you can achieve and keep trying. Remember, life is a journey, not a destination. At the end of the game, we are all dead! So, enjoy the journey!

Most people give up on the journey to their dreams because the dream seems unattainable - impossible to reach. When we are able to break it into small steps that move us forward and we are able to experience a sense of personally meaningful progress, then we are spurred on to continue the journey towards our goals.

Lets take Jim for example. He has built a successful business and he earns good money, but he wakes up each day and feels like he is on a treadmill going nowhere because he has no vision of the future he is creating. Each day feels just like the day before. He has no passion, no excitement and no energy to share with his troops. Because how he feels about his work and his life colors all of his interactions with everyone who works with him, they also feel like everyday is just like yesterday and they are not excited about the future that they are helping to create. What Jim needs is a dream he is excited by and a plan to get there, so that each day feels like a step in the direction of his dreams.

This is why it is so important for the leader of any enterprise to articulate a clear vision of a desirable future and to help their people believe that they can and will attain that desirable future state through their collective efforts.

Do you dare to dream? What is your vision? What is your plan? What is your first Doable Chewable?
